  Drink For Cancer

Terre Haute, IN, April 11, 2013 Indiana State students will be teaming up with The Verve on April 25th in an effort to help benefit the Caring Community Foundation. CCF is a non-profit charitable organization that provides financial assistance to cancer patients in need.

The Caring Community Foundation is a 501(c) (3) assistance cancer patient in and around the Triangle area of North Carolina.  CCF supports basic financial needs by providing assistance with rent, utilities, treatment or other expenses that become difficult to manage during cancer treatment. The organization’s “Pay-It-Forward” philosophy drives their mission and impacts everything they do.

Jill Wolford “I am excited to see how this event turns out and am glad the ISU students are willing to help us raise money.” This event is to raise money for cancer patients and all proceeds will be going to the Caring Community Foundation. The Verve is happy to host and help raise money. There will be a band that will be playing for free for everyone to have fun, listen to music and to get their drink on! A five-dollar cover for males and any tips received will be going to this wonderful organization!

The organization was established in 2001 by a breast cancer survivor who wanted to demonstrate her gratitude for the outpouring of community and family support she received during her own treatment. Sadly, cancer affects nearly everyone in some way. The Caring Community Foundation proudly helps alleviate financial stress and burdens for cancer patients in need so they can focus on treatment and recovery.

Fact Sheet

HISTORY:  Beginning in 2002, the size, scope and planning for the Foundation’s annual “Pay It Forward” Fundraising Event increased dramatically and has grown to include live music, raffles, door prizes, and private and corporate contributions. In 2010, the Foundation celebrated its 10-year anniversary and has now assisted over 1000 patients and raised over $1 million dollars. At each event, the Foundation strives to honor LuAnne’s memory and to recognize one of her greatest achievements: LuAnne Goodwin changed the world.

MISSION:  The Caring Community Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that provides financial support to cancer patients in need. How: The Foundation works with clinics and hospitals in the Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Chapel Hill, NC areas to identify patients with financial challenges, and to expeditiously provide assistance with expenses such as rent, utilities, food, prescription medications, nutritional supplements and other items that become even more difficult to manage in the face of cancer treatment.

OUR PURPOSE:  Cancer patients in need are referred to us through our network of area hospitals and clinics. Our criteria for offering financial support are simple – patients need to be actively undergoing treatment in an area facility and have significant financial need. Once a patient has been referred to us, the request is expeditiously reviewed and funds are quickly dispersed. CCF is a foundation of volunteers with an astounding 100% of the funds raised going straight to patients. Sponsors help pay for administrative costs.

GOAL:  Sadly, cancer affects nearly everyone in some way.  The Caring Community Foundation proudly helps alleviate financial stress and burdens for cancer patients in need so they can focus on treatment and recovery.

CALL TO ACTION:  CCF eases the financial pain of cancer patients in the Triangle.   What we want people to do is to donate money for this wonderful cause.  The Every dollar raised goes straight to paying for their basic needs such as rent, utilities and medicine.
